Liz Spaulding is the New York Director for the SAG-AFTRA Foundation, a 501c(3) non-profit that provides vital assistance and educational programming to SAG-AFTRA performers, while serving the public at large through their children’s literacy programs.
An entertainment and media marketer with over ten years in the industry, Liz's experience spans the public, private and non-profit sectors. She has provided strategic insight and targeted campaigns for a variety of projects, from day-and-date distribution of small independent features, to the sponsored marketing incentives of blockbuster titles. Liz’s inherent knack for forging relationships and partnerships across like-minded organizations to out-of-the-box pairings has allowed her to climb the ranks within the entertainment and media space here in New York City.
Before being recruited for the newly created position of New York Director at the SAG Foundation, Liz was Marketing & Communications Associate for the City of New York Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment. While at MOME she managed the “Made in NY” Marketing Credit program, a $4 million annual incentive providing valuable media advertising for film and television productions that completed 75% or more of their shooting days within the five boroughs of New York City.
Prior to working for both Mayor Bloomberg and Mayor de Blasio, Liz managed the marketing efforts of over 20 feature-film releases while working for independent film distributor Tribeca Film, a sister-company to the world-renowned film festival located in downtown’s buzzing Tribeca neighborhood.
While at Tribeca Film, Liz helped launch the company from a fledgling film distributor with only ten films available for eight weeks, to a year-round multi-platform independent film distributor, with presence on VOD, iTunes, Amazon, Netflix, in theaters and on DVD, totalling over 40 titles annually. Under her leadership and ability to get a panel at the 2011 San Diego Comic-Con, the film GRAVE ENCOUNTERS had the largest number of VOD transactions for a film title in Tribeca Film’s history.
Liz ran her first half marathon in 2012, running with Team Challenge in Las Vegas Rock n’ Roll Half Marathon, and fundraising nearly $4,000 USD for the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America.
Liz graduated cum Laude from New York University with a B.A. in English Literature and graduated with merit with an MSc. in European Identities from the London School of Economics in London, UK. Her final dissertation was a political and economic comparison of the entries of Spain and the Czech Republic into the European Union. She is originally from Buffalo, NY and has lived in Toronto, Prague, London and New York. She has visited over 33 countries, and hopes to travel to over 100 in her lifetime.
